NOTES A RENEWED INTEREST OVER THE LAST 25 YEARS IN VICTIM COMPENSATION AND IN THE ROLE OF THE VICTIM IN THE CAUSE AND EXECUTION OF CRIME.
Abstract
EXPERIMENTAL VICTIM COMPENSATION LEGISLATION HAS BEEN ADOPTED IN ENGLAND, NEW ZEALAND, AND SOME PARTS OF CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES. TWO IMPORTANT FEATURES OF THESE PROGRAMS ARE THAT THEY ARE LIMITED TO VICTIMS OF CRIMES OF VIOLENCE AND THAT EACH CASE MUST BE EXAMINED BY A COURT OR COMMISSION TO MEET SUCH STANDARDS AS VICTIM NEED AND ABSENCE OF PROVOCATION OF THE CRIMINAL BY THE VICTIM. BRIEFLY MENTIONED ARE SEVERAL AMERICAN STUDIES OF THE BEHAVIOR, PERSONALITY, AND SOCIAL TRAITS OF VICTIMS. --IN FRENCH
