OPERATIONS OF THE COURT MANAGEMENT COMPUTER SYSTEM, FULLY IMPLEMENTED IN SEPTEMBER 1968, WHICH PROVIDES BOTH CIVIL LISTINGS AND CRIMINAL LISTINGS SYSTEMS.
Abstract
THE COMMON PLEAS COURT'S COMPUTER SYSTEM HAS ALLOWED THE COURT TO ANALYZE CASES OUTSTANDING, TO ESTABLISH AN ORDERING OF PRIORITY CASES, AND TO SIZABLY REDUCE ITS LARGE BACKLOG OF CASES. THE SYSTEM HAS RESULTED IN A MORE EFFICIENT COURT CASE FLOW AND GREATLY IMPROVED COMMUNICATION BETWEEN ALL COURT-RELATED PARTIES. THIS REPORT DISCUSSES THE SYSTEM'S OPERATION AND INCLUDES CASE FLOW CHARTS AND SAMPLE PRINT-OUTS OF THE COMPUTER'S VARIOUS FUNCTION. LATER SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT WILL BE EXPANSION INTO ON-LINE REMOTE TERMINAL OPERATIONS, MAKING JUDGEMENT SEARCHING, CASE STATUS, COURTROOM AVAILABILITY, AND OTHER MANAGEMENT ORIENTED INFORMATION INSTANTLY AVAILABLE. THE SYSTEM NOW MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO REALISTICALLY PROJECT FUTURE NEEDS FOR JUDGES AND COURTROOMS. ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS WILL INCLUDE JUVENILE COURT OPERATIONS, PROBATION OFFICE ACTIVITIES, JURY SELECTION, APPOINTMENT OF DIVORCE SUIT MASTERS AND DEFENSE COUNSEL IN CRIMINAL CASES, 'AUTOMATED' DOCKETS AND INDEXES FOR CLERK OFFICES, DOMESTIC RELATIONS SUPPORT ORDER PAYMENTS, AND AUTOMATED TITLE SEARCHING.
