THE FIVE PERCENT OF ALL PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEERS INVOLVED IN URBAN PROGRAMS MAKE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS.
Abstract
THE PEACE CORPS IS SECOND ONLY TO THE UNITED NATIONS IN PROVIDING PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL MANPOWER IN THE URBAN FIELD. URBANIZATION IN RELATIONSHIP TO THE DEVELOPMENTAL PROCESS AND THE PEACE CORPS INVOLVEMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF CURRENT PROGRAMS ARE REPORTED. CURRENT PROGRAMS ARE DISCUSSED ON PROJECT ANALYSIS AND DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT OF INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE, URBAN AND DEVELOPMENT PLANNING, MUNICIPAL MANAGEMENT, PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL MANPOWER MANAGEMENT, IMPROVEMENT OF EXISTING SERVICES, AND ACTION PROGRAMS. SPECIFIC PROGRAMS IN URBAN AFFAIRS AND DEVELOPMENT ARE ATTACHED.
