This volume aims to help police officers and the public understand California laws regarding weapons, based on 43 concepts involved in the California State laws related to each type of weapons.
Abstract
The introduction notes that different chapters of the California Penal code may cover similar groups of weapons, that a word picture and an illustration accompanies the presentation of each concept, and that the multiple-choice questions that follow each concept aim to ensure that the student understands the concept before proceeding to the next one. The next section explains the concept of the elements of the crime; the classification of offenses; and the role of Federal law, local laws, and case law related to weapons. Among handgun concepts are the concepts that carrying a concealed handgun in public is a misdemeanor, that carrying an unconcealed handgun in public is lawful, and that it is a misdemeanor for a minor to possess a handgun without parental permission. Other concepts focus on rifles and shotguns, loaded firearms and ammunition, other firearms, bladed weapons, miscellaneous weapons, exhibiting weapons, and the discharge of firearms.
