Abstract
Out of the 1,089 schools surveyed, responses were received from 808 schools (75 percent). Survey results are presented in five major sections: description of schools, program organization, program content, curriculum and resource materials, and contact persons. The description of schools includes data on the number, types, and grade levels of schools providing programs. Program-organization information covers the number of students involved, grade level of peer counselors, requirements, training curriculum and program evaluation. The program-content section list the problem areas, skills and knowledge, and peer roles and functions addressed by the programs reported. The appendixes contain a resource locator chart, a directory of schools and contact persons, a list of outside agencies and trainers, and a copy of the survey form.
