Abstract
The Persian Gulf, a body of water surrounded by a number of Arab and Islamic states is well known for recent historical events. The oil crises, the exile of the Shah of Iran, the Iraq-Iran war, the Gulf War, and other headline news have made the Persian Gulf a well-known area. When considering terrorism, the Persian Gulf is one of the most important areas of the world surrounded by some of the biggest players in the terrorism arena. The Persian Gulf region, which supplies much of the world's oil, is constantly in turmoil over religious and power issues. Religious hatred in places like Iran and Iraq runs deep. Many Persian Gulf states are actively sponsoring terrorists around the world. This chapter presents a historical perspective of the political and religious actions in this region, as well as how the states are utilizing their past to shape their future.
