The personnel involved in running the computer system are the key to all effective security measures, although they compose the most vulnerable aspect of the security system.
          Abstract
The paper describes the wide range of threats which can be posed to computer-based systems, together with a number of countermeasures which can be applied. It emphasizes the prevention of threats by the application of sound management practice and management awareness of security issues. The need for the protection of data from data processing personnel is examined, along with the physical protection of the data processing personnel themselves. (Author abstract modified)
