A REVIEW OF THE BACKGROUND AND CURRENT THINKING BEHIND POLISH STRATEGIES TO COMBAT A GROWING CRIME PROBLEM.
Abstract
POLAND HAS FOUND THAT INCREASING INDUSTRIALIZATION AND URBANIZATION SEEM TO PRODUCE A GROWING CRIME RATE DESPITE HER IMPROVED SOCIETY. FORTUNATELY, POLAND'S CENTRALLY PLANNED ECONOMY ENABLES HER TO DEVELOP A NATIONAL AND CONSISTENT STRATEGY WITH MAJOR EFFORTS DIRECTED TOWARD PREVENTION AND TREATMENT FOR YOUNG OFFENDERS. EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT WITH BOTH PREVENTION AND CORRECTION AND ON REHABILITATING THE OFFENDER WITH AS LITTLE DISRUPTION TO HIS NORMAL ROUTINE AS POSSIBLE.
