Abstract
This issue contains seven feature articles: 1) Police-Probation/Parole Partnerships Responding to Local Street Gang Problems provides a brief overview of street gang recidivism, discusses the potential of police-probation/parole partnerships, and introduces the American Probation and Parole Association's (APPA's) Collaboration, Analysis, Reentry, and Evaluation (C.A.R.E.) model; 2) Interrogations 2012: Safeguarding against False Confessions which addresses factors that can lead to wrongful convictions, such as false confessions; 3) Public-Private Partnerships: Assessing Support Structures at the Local Level assesses the overall nature of P3 support efforts within State chiefs associations and ASIS chapters; 4) Interrogation Full Circle: How FLETC Partnered with Dallas to Develop Video-Based Training discusses "A 360-Degree Look at Criminal Interrogation," the groundbreaking video-based training tool; 5) The Mental Edge: Effective Cognitive Processing in Law Enforcement discusses cognitive-based training for officer survival; 6) New Leadership for IACP Research Advisory Committee (RAC) provides an overview of the RAC and its newly appointed Co-Chairs; and 7) A Summer Abroad: The IACP International Policing Division International Conferences and Symposiums 2012 discusses IACP's partnered conferences in Montenegro, Colombia, and Brazil. Six Columns include: 1) President's Message: The Year in Review; 2) Legislative Alert: Looking Ahead to the End of the Year; 3) Chief's Counsel: Reasonable Accommodation under the Amended ADA; 4) Research in Brief: Suspect Physiology Associated with Common Law Enforcement Tools and Tactics Gives Insight to likely Cause of Arrest-Related Deaths; 5) Officer Safety Corner: Long-Term Declines in Firearms-Related Deaths and Injuries for Officers and the Public; and 6) From the Director: Training to Ensure Law Enforcement Readiness.
