Abstract
THE MANAGEMENT OF DISASTER FORCES IS LOOKED AT FROM THE POLICE COMMANDER'S STANDPOINT, AND SPECIFIC DETAILS ARE FURNISHED ON PROCEDURES TO BE FOLLOWED IN VARIOUS TYPES OF DISASTERS. THE PSYCHOLOGICAL REACTIONS OF PERSONS WHO HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO THE STRESS OF CATASTROPHE ARE CONSIDERED. DISASTER CASE STUDIES ARE PROVIDED TO ILLUSTRATE THE POINTS RAISED THROUGHOUT THE TEXT. APPENDED MATERIAL INCLUDES MODELS TO BE USED IN FORMING A DISASTER RESPONSE PLAN, SUCH AS SIMULATION GAMES, EMERGENCY CONTROL CENTER MODEL, A DISASTER LOG EXAMPLE, AND A DESCRIPTION OF THE CALIFORNIA MUTUAL AID PLAN.
