THIS STUDY GUIDE ON SPECIAL POLICE PROBLEMS CONSISTS OF A SERIES OF FOUR TESTS, EACH CONTAINING 100 MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS AND ACCOMPANIED BY KEY ANSWERS AND EXPLANATIONS.
Abstract
THE FOUR TESTS FOCUS ON PATROL, TRAFFIC, CIVIL DISTURBANCE AND RIOT CONTROL, AND JUVENILES. IN ADDITION MATERIAL IS INCLUDED ON PREPLANNING FOR CIVIL DISTURBANCES AND RIOT CONTROL. THIS MATERIAL IS NOT INTENDED TO RESOLVE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH CIVIL DISTURBANCES AND RIOT CONTROL IN THE COMMUNITY BUT RATHER TO STIMULATE PRIOR PLANNING SO THAT DISTURBANCES DO NOT REACH AN UNMANAGEABLE SCOPE AND SIZE. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 38 QUESTIONS ON RIOT CONTROL, ALL QUESTIONS IN THE STUDY GUIDE HAVE BEEN USED BY VARIOUS CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSIONS IN THEIR EXAMINATION OF POLICE DEPARTMENT MEMBERS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROMOTIONAL ADVANCEMENT. WHERE THE SOURCE FOR THE APPROVED ANSWER IS KNOWN, THE PAGE NUMBER AND NAME OF THE REFERENCE BOOK IS CITED. OTHERWISE, THE ANSWER AND JUSTIFICATION FOR IT GIVEN BY THE CIVIL SERVICE BOARDS IS PROVIDED. THE CODE OF SUGGESTIONS DEVELOPED BY THE RADIO AND TELEVISION NEWS ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ON THE COVERAGE OF CIVIL DISORDER IS INCLUDED. (DEP)
