Abstract
HOSTAGE, SNIPER, AND AMBUSH SITUATIONS ARE COVERED. PROCEDURES FOR DEALING WITH BARRICADED SUSPECTS AND WITH FAMILY DISTURBANCES, AS WELL AS FOR PROTECTING PUBLIC FIGURES ARE ALSO DISCUSSED. FOR EACH TYPE OF SITUATION, A NARRATIVE OF A REAL SUCH OCCURRENCE IS PRESENTED WITH PHOTOGRAPHIC ILLUSTRATIONS, FOLLOWED BY AN EVALUATION OF THE PROCEDURES EMPLOYED. SIMILAR CASE HISTORIES ARE THEN PRESENTED. EACH SECTION CONCLUDES WITH POLICE TRAINING MATERIALS.
