The report discusses characteristics of a model projecting client population through August 1983 for the New York State Division for Youth and assumptions entailed in the model's use.
Abstract
The model is based upon (and allows the manipulation of) assumptions regarding the number of youth admitted to the division over any given time period, the distribution of these youth among various adjudication statuses, the initial levels of placement of these individuals, their lengths of stay at initial and subsequent levels of placement, and their transfer and release patterns. The model functions by (1) distributing admissions during a given year among particular adjudication types and levels of initial placement, (2) holding these admitted youngsters for specified lengths of stay, and (3) transferring or releasing them according to specified levels. The report discusses input assumptions and assumptions about system functioning. Graphic representations of the projected population are included.
