Abstract
DATA INCLUDES THE NATURE OF THE BURGLARY OR ROBBERY, LOCATION, WEAPONS USED, PROPERTY STOLEN, TIME OF DAY, SEASON, POLICE CLEARANCE RATES, AND CHANCE OF BEING ARRESTED. THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DEFENDANT ARE EXAMINED IN DETAIL. THE STUDY TABULATES THE AGE, SEX, AND RACE OF PERSONS ARRESTED, THE MANNER IN WHICH THE CRIME WAS COMMITTED, THE VICTIM'S AGE, RACE, AND SEX, AND PERSONAL HISTORIES OF DEFENDANTS ARRESTED FOR TARGET CRIMES. JUVENILES ARE SUMMARIZED SEPARATELY FROM ADULTS. DATA IS PRESENTED IN TABULAR FORM.
