This document is the final draft of a strategic plan designed to articulated the mission, values, and goals for the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association (NCASAA).
Abstract
The strategic plan provides information concerning the NCASAA mission, critical issues facing the organization and proposed outcomes and objectives for the operation of CASA programs during the 2 year period of 2001-2003. The plan is designed to carry out the mission of NCASAA which is identified as working for the best interests of abused and neglected children referred to the juvenile courts through the administration of local CASA and guardian ad litem programs. The plan was formulated over a 6-month period in the year 2000 and was formulated using the input of over 200 CASA programs as well as the work of a designated Strategic Planning Committee. Emphasis areas include increasing volunteer numbers, increasing the number of children served, providing support for local programs, promoting greater diversity in the service population, and increasing the national capacity of CASA programs are identified and discussed.
