The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Training and Technical Assistance Center (PDMP TTAC) reports 2020 data and 2021 features of the Arkansas State PDMP.
Arkansas’ PDMP name is AR PDMP, which is managed by the Arkansas Department of Health. The PDMP website URL is provided, along with the URLs for enrollment, query, data upload, and statistics. Contact information is provided for the PDMP Director and the Branch Chief. Statistics for the year 2020 are reported to be 3,013,756 for the state population; 13,786 DEA-registered prescribers; and 773 DEA-registered dispensers. Three types of PDMP reports are available to prescribers, two for dispensers, two for the Licensing Board, three for law enforcement, and patients’ access to their own query history. Six other types of reports are checked. PDMP budget and staffing for 2021 indicate funding sources from the state general fund, CDC grant, and BJA grant. There are two staff PDMP operational employees for 2021 and one analytical/epidemiological staff member. PDMP policies and procedures cover key PDMP dates; access information for relevant PDMP statutes and rules; miscellaneous capabilities and policies; data retention; PDMP user training; PDMP accounts; and criteria for querying PDMP. Law enforcement access to PDMP data requires a search warrant, and law enforcement access is through a written request. Criteria required for querying PDMP are listed. Enrollment in PDMP is required for prescribers and dispensers, and use is required for prescribers. Veterinarian policies require animal reporting specifications the same as human patients, and the reporting of miscellaneous information related to drug prescriptions. Data monitored or accessible cover schedules II, III, IV, and V. Data monitored or accessible includes naloxone/narcan administrations and information on fatal and non-fatal overdoses. Technological capabilities address ASAP versions accepted; data transmission methods allowed; required data transmitters; data collection, storage, generation, and access; interstate data sharing; data integration; and patient matching. Data requestors and reports authorized for production and that have been produced are noted.
