OVERVIEW OF CAUSAL FACTORS OF JUVENILE CRIME AND DELINQUENCY AND OF PREVENTIVE MEASURES AND INSTITUTIONS IN POLISH URBAN AREAS.
Abstract
JUVENILE CRIMINALITY IS GREATER IN LARGE POLISH CITIES THAN IN TOWNS AND VILLAGES BECAUSE OF URBAN ANONYMITY, DECREASED CONTROL OF FREE TIME, LOOSENESS OF FAMILY TIES, POOR UPBRINGING OF CHILDREN, AND INADEQUATE EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES FOR THE CHILDREN OF RURAL IMMIGRANTS TO URBAN AREAS. BRIEFLY DESCRIBED ARE INSTITUTIONS FOR ASSISTING FAMILIES OF SOCIALLY MALADJUSTED CHILDREN. THESE INSTITUTIONS INCLUDE SCHOOLS, SPECIAL CLINICS, GUARDIANS, PLACES OF EMPLOYMENT, AND SOCIAL ORGANIZATIONS. SPECIAL COURTS, INCLUDING SO-CALLED PROTECTIVE COURTS' AND 'FAMILY COURTS' PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN PROVIDING SOMETIMES OBLIGATORY GUIDANCE TO THE FAMILIES OF DEVIANT JUVENILES. --IN POLISH.
