Abstract
A DISCUSSION OF THE FRAMEWORK OF PAROLE COVERS THE DEVELOPMENT OF PAROLE, THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE OF PAROLE IN NEW YORK, THE PAROLE BOARD, THE PAROLE SERVICE, AND PRISONS, PRISONERS, AND PAROLE. A DISCUSSION OF DECISION MAKING FOCUSES ON TOPICS SUCH AS PAROLE AND SENTENCING IN NEW YORK, THE CASE FILE, THE PAROLE RELEASE INTERVIEW, AND THE RELEASE CRITERIA. COMMENTS ON COMMUNITY SUPERVISION INCLUDE THE EMPHASIS OF COMMUNITY SUPERVISION, THE PROBLEMS OF THE PAROLEE, THE PAROLE AGREEMENT, AND REVOCATION. A SECTION ON CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS HIGHLIGHTS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF NEW YORK PAROLE, THE USEFULNESS OF PAROLE AND COMMISSION RECOMMENDATIONS.
