A SERIES OF CASE HISTORIES OF MALADJUSTED JUVENILE BOYS THAT ILLUSTRATES THE PSYCHOANALYTICAL METHOD OF INVESTIGATING AND THE PSYCHIATRICAL METHOD OF TREATING DELINQUENT AND MALADJUSTED BEHAVIOR.
Abstract
THIRTY YEAR'S EXPERIENCE WITH MALADJUSTED BOYS AT THE RED HILL SCHOOL IN ENGLAND HAS LED THE AUTHOR TO THE CONCLUSION THAT DIFFICULT CHILDREN NOT ONLY ACT LIKE CHILDREN. BUT FREQUENTLY ACT IN ANGER AND FRUSTRATION, AS IF THEY ARE DENYING THEIR HUNGER AND THIRST FOR THE LOVE WHICH THEY FEEL IS BEING UNFAIRLY WITHHELD. WHETHER THEY ARE RIGHT OR WRONG TO FEEL IN SUCH A WAY MATTERS LITTLE. THE FACT IS THAT THEY DO SO FEEL, AND IT IS WITH THAT FEELING WE HAVE TO DEAL. THE TWENTY CASE HISTORIES THAT ARE PRESENTED HERE ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF SUCCESSFUL TREATMENT STRATEGIES.
