THE AUTHOR FORESEES THAT FUTURE POLICE OFFICERS WILL BE LAW ENFORCEMENT-COMMUNITY SERVICE GENERALISTS, PERSONALLY AND EDUCATIONALLY EQUIPPED FOR FLEXIBLY SOLVING A BROAD RANGE OF CRIME FIGHTING AND SOCIAL SERVICES PROBLEMS.
Abstract
ALSO FORESEEN IS GREATER DECENTRALIZATION OF POLICE SERVICES AND A SHIFT FROM THE PARAMILITARY POLICE ORGANIZATION TO ONE WHICH WILL FOSTER INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT, SELF-INITIATED ACTION AND CLOSER WORKING RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN SUPERVISORY AND LINE PERSONNEL. A SET OF DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES FOR FUTURE OFFICERS IS DISCUSSED.
