Abstract
THE FLORIDA JUVENILE CORRECTIONS DE-EMPHASIZES 'TRAINING SCHOOL INSTITUTIONALIZATION IN FAVOR OF SEVERAL TYPES OF COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS, INCLUDING COMMUNITY GROUP TREATMENT CENTERS FOR THIRTEEN TO EIGHTEEN YEARS OLDS WHICH RELY ON GUIDED GROUP INTERACTION AS THE TREATMENT MODE, WILDERNESS CAMPS FOR WARDS TWELVE YEARS OLD AND UNDER, A FOSTER GROUP HOME PROGRAM FOR YOUTH ON PROBATION AND PAROLE, AND FOUR ASSOCIATED MARINE INSTITUTES, CENTERS WHICH USE CRUISES TO THE BAHAMAS TO TEACH PROBATIONERS OCEANOGRAPHY AND SEAFARING SKILLS. THIS JUVENILE CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM ALSO INCLUDES STATEWIDE, 24-HOUR INTAKE. THIS ARTICLE, IN ADDITION, HIGHLIGHTS THE TREND IN ADULT CORRECTIONS TOWARD COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS, WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A NETWORK OF SMALL URBAN-BASED FACILITIES FOR INMATES ON WORK OR STUDY RELEASE.
