Crime Concern was started in 1988 to establish crime reduction partnerships and programs in England; provide specialist advice to local authorities, other public sector bodies, and businesses; and support community-based initiatives such as Neighborhood Watch and local crime prevention panels.
          Abstract
With Crime Concern's assistance, crime reduction programs have been established in 11 different parts of the country. Each program is managed by a high-level steering committee drawn from local agencies, and each relies on local financing sources. Crime Concern has also served as a consultant on a wide range of programs to improve community safety. The goal is to strike a balance between strategic planning and practical action in crime prevention. Brief descriptions of Crime Concern's crime reduction programs throughout England are provided. Appendixes list individuals on program steering committees and program sponsors.
