Alcohol and drug abuse control is examined from the standpoint of the nature of the problem and programs an organization can implement to deal with substance abuse. A chapter on the use of dogs covers their care, their use with and without a handler, and legal issues. Personnel security is examined with respect to methods for detecting deception and the use of psychological tests for screening. Training guidelines cover supervisory training, specialized training in subjects related to security, and courtroom demeanor and testimony. Techniques for developing security awareness are presented. A chapter on accounting and financial controls covers basic concepts of accounting, vertical and horizontal financial analysis, the budgetary process, expense budgets, internal controls, and auditing. Additional sections cover the protection of private aircraft and aviation facilities, the use of consultants, the use of television in security operations, and the laws and workplace needs related to handicapped persons. Photographs, figures, forms, checklists, and samples of policy and procedure statements are supplied. For other volumes, see NCJ 97531-33 and NCJ 97535.
