SUGGESTIONS FOR EFFECTIVE AND NON-TRAUMATIC TREATMENT OF RAPE VICTIMS BY HOSPITAL WORKERS AND PHYSICIANS.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR EXAMINES WAYS TO APPROACH TREATMENT AND QUESTIONING OF RAPE VICTIMS WITHOUT HEIGHTENING THE SENSE OF GUILT AND DEGRADATION THEY MAY ALREADY FEEL. SPECIFIC IN-HOSPITAL AND FOLLOW-UP TREATMENT PRACTICES ALREADY IN USE TO RELIEVE THE VICTIM'S EMOTIONAL STRESS ARE REVIEWED AS WELL AS RECOMMENDATIONS TO MODIFY SOME PRESENT AREAS OF TREATMENT WHICH ARE NOT HELPFUL.
