Abstract
NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT TRAINING EFFORTS INVOLVING CRISIS INTERVENTION, ANXIETY REDUCTION, AND SENSITIVE INTERVIEWING TECHNIQUES FOR DETECTIVES AND UNIFORMED PERSONNEL ARE SUMMARIZED. ALSO CONSIDERED ARE COOPERATIVE EFFORTS WITH HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM PERSONNEL WHICH STRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF DOCUMENTATION OF TRAUMA AND OTHER EVIDENCE OF PHYSICAL ASSAULT CRUCIAL TO A SUCCESSFUL PROSECUTION.
