Abstract
INSTRUCTION IS PROVIDED BY A PART-TIME TEACHER FROM THE COUNTY SCHOOL ADULT EDUCATION DEPARTMENT AND BY VOLUNTEER TUTORS. THE AVERAGE TIME IN THE EDUCATION PROGRAM IS TEN WEEKS. BEACUSE OF LIMITED SPACE, FAIRFAX COUNTY JAIL STILL HAS MANY MEN ON THE WAITING LIST TO ENTER INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATION PROGRAMS. TWO PROFESSIONAL LIBRARY STAFF MEMBERS ORDER AND RESEARCH MATERIALS DESIRED BY INMATES AND DISTRIBUTE AND COLLECT THESE MATERIALS DIRECTLY TO THE INMATES DURING WEEKLY VISITS TO THE CELL BLOCKS.
