Abstract
This brochure from the International Association of Chiefs of Police and Accenture, a management consulting firm, presents information for law enforcement on integrating and using social media. According to a survey conducted in 2012, 94 percent of law enforcement agencies in the United States have begun to use social media. This brochure aims to help agencies put together a social media presence that is effective and accomplishes the agency's goals. To do this, administrators need to ask the following questions: what does the agency want to accomplish through social media?; who needs to be involved in planning and executing social media activities?; and how can social media help accomplish organizational goals? Information is also presented on how to engage the target audience and how to determine if the strategy is being correctly implemented. The brochure contains nine questions with a selection of answers that agency administrators can use to determine if they are ready to implement their social media strategy.
