In 1993, a patient at the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital in Ontario, Canada, was brutally killed by two other patients in a forest grove on the grounds of the institution; this book recounts the story of one of the murderers, David Michael Krueger.
Abstract
One of the murderers, a nearly blind psychiatric patient, walked to a nearby police station and turned himself in. The other murderer, David Michael Krueger, lay near the body in a sleeping bag, drugged into unconsciousness. The book tells the story of Krueger's life, exploring how Krueger allowed his strange fantasies to run his life and how he was able to deceive psychiatrists, lawyers, and fellow inmates. In interviewing Krueger, the author was able to collect intimate details about the murderer's nature, behavior, motivation, obsessions, and fantasies and about how the murder was carried out.
