This book summarizes the conference papers presented in 2008, 2009, and 2010 at the international organized crime (OC) research conferences in Frankfurt, Germany, sponsored by the Federal Criminal Police Office.
Abstract
This anthology contains selected contributions from previous conferences and gives a broader circle of professionals insight into the current issues and findings related to organized crime. Presentations for the 2008 overview included: Organized Crime in the Czech Republic; Criminological Research into Organized Crime in the Czech Republic; The Swedish "National Mobilization" Against Organized Crime; and Organized Crime in Poland as a Field of Research and its Contemporary Situation. Presentations for the 2009 overview included: Organized Crime as a State Capture Problem in Countries in Transition; Problems of Organized Crime in Research Work at the Centre for Police Research; and Crime Research, Organized Crime and Social Consequences in Hungary. Presentations for the 2010 overview included: The Mafia Index: A Measure of the Presence of the Mafia Across Italian Provinces; Mafia and Anti-mafia in Italy and Europe; Combating Organized Crime in Italy: Perspectives and Problems; Organized Crime and (some) Organized Crime Research in Greece; Drug Trafficking and Money Laundering in Spain: Evidences and Policies; and Conducting Organized Crime Research in Spain: An Appraisal of the Pros and Cons.
