This booklet, intended as a resource for victims of sexual assault, as well as persons who know or work with military victims, offers information on sexual assault, the recovery process, medical concerns, and reporting options and information about the Department of Defense policies and resources on sexual assault prevention and response (SAPR).
Written for anyone who has ever been the victim of sexual assault, this booklet provides information in two parts: (1) information about sexual assault, reporting options, medical concerns, and recovery and (2) where to go for help, more information, and support. The booklet is also a good resource for family members, friends, and other professionals to learn more about how to support victims through this difficult time and to use as a quick reference guide to the sexual assault prevention and response policies as directed by the Department of Defense (DOD). The booklet also provides an overview of the many aspects of sexual assault which include: the recover process, victims’ concerns, reporting barriers, medical issues, and the criminal justice process. It was developed with input and review from a multidisciplinary team of military and civilian experts.
