IDENTIFICATION OF CORRECTIONS NEEDS AND RESOURCES OF THE REGION AND EXAMINATION OF ALTERNATIVE CONCEPTS OF PROVIDING FACILITIES AND PROGRAMS TO MEET THOSE NEEDS.
Abstract
THE FIRST TWO CHAPTERS EXAMINE NATIONAL, STATE, AND REGIONAL CORRECTIONS, AND REGIONAL FACTORS, SUCH AS POPULATION GROWTH PATTERNS, AND EDUCATION, WHICH INFLUENCE CRIME. THE NEXT THREE CHAPTERS PRESENT INFORMATION ON EXISTING REGIONAL JAILS AND PROJECTIONS FOR THEIR POPULATIONS. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE MADE FOR A REGIONAL CORRECTIONAL PROGRAM AND FOR STAFFING, FACILITIES, AND OPERATING COSTS. APPENDIXES INCLUDE SUPLEMENTAL JAIL STATISTICS, STAFFING GUIDELINES AND SALARY RECOMMENDATIONS, A PRISONER CLASSIFICATION SCHEME, AND A BIBLIOGRAPHY.
