RESULTS OF INVESTIGATION INTO POLICE RAID ON BLACK PANTHER PARTY HOUSE IN CHICAGO IN WHICH FRED HAMPTON AND ONE OTHER BLACK PANTHER WERE KILLED.
Abstract
FOLLOWING A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE POLICE RAID, AS GIVEN BY BOTH THE POLICE AND WITNESSES, A DISCUSSION IS PRESENTED ON POLICE-COMMUNITY RELATIONS IN CHICAGO AT THE TIME OF THE RAID. COMMENTS ARE THEN MADE ON THE PLAN FOR AND PURPOSES OF THE RAID, THE OPENING MOMENTS, AND THE PATTERN OF SHOOTING. CONSIDERABLE ATTENTION IS DEVOTED TO THE SHOOTING OF FRED HAMPTON AND THE QUESTION OF WHETHER HE WAS DRUGGED AT THE TIME THE RAID OCCURED. THE CONDUCT OF CITY, COUNTY, AND STATE OFFICIALS IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE RAID IS HIGHLIGHTED, ALONG WITH DISCUSSION OF THE ROLE PLAYED BY FEDERAL LAW AND THE FEDERAL GRAND JURY WHICH INVESTIGATED THE INCIDENT. THE APPENDIXES CONTAIN A LISTING OF THE COMMISSION STAFF AND A REPORT ON THE INVESTIGATION OF THE RAIDED PREMISES AND THE EXAMINATION OF EVIDENCE REMOVED THEREFROM.
