SECURITY OFFICER RECRUITS ARE INSTRUCTED IN DETAIL ON HOW TO CARRY OUT DAILY PATROLS IN THIS FILMSTRIP AND CASSETTE TAPE TRAINING PACKAGE, PART OF THE SECURITY OFFICER SERIES. EMPHASIS IS ON ALERTNESS AND PREPAREDNESS.
Abstract
THE PACKAGE LAYS OUT FOR OFFICERS WHAT THEIR BASIC APPROACH TO THEIR JOB SHOULD BE AND WHAT STEPS TO TAKE TO SUCCESSFULLY ENSURE THE SECURITY OF THE BUILDINGS THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR. IT IS SPECIFIC IN ITS SUGGESTIONS: OFFICERS SHOULD REPORT TO WORK 10 MINUTES EARLY, MAKE A LIST OF EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBERS AND KEEP IT AVAILABLE, REPORT SIGNS OF FORCED ENTRY, AND NOTE REQUIRED REPAIRS IN A LOG BOOK. THEY ARE ADVISED TO TAKE PREVENTION MEASURES. DOORS AND WINDOWS SHOULD BE CHECKED FOR THEIR INTEGRITY; TRASH CANS SHOULD BE ROUNTINELY EXAMINED FOR SUSPICIOUS CONTENTS; FIRE PREVENTION AND ALARM SYSTEMS SHOULD BE CHECKED REGULARLY AND OFFICERS SHOULD ACQUAINT THEMSELVES WITH THE WORKINGS OF THESE SYSTEMS. ON INITIAL PATROL, THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING SHOULD BE INSPECTED SO THAT SUBSEQUENT CHANGES WILL BE NOTICED. VEHICLE PATROL SHOULD BE CONDUCTED AT A SLOW PACE TO ENSURE EFFECTIVE OBSERVATION. GUARDS AT STATIONARY POSTS MUST STAY AT THEIR ASSIGNED AREA UNTIL PROPERLY RELIEVED. ON DAY PATROL, OFFICERS SHOULD MAINTAIN HIGH VISIBILITY; NIGHT PATROLS SHOULD BE CONDUCTED IN AN INCONSPICUOUS MANNER. (TWK)
