SURVEY OF PRACTICES IN SELECTION AND TRAINING OF CORRECTIONAL PERSONNEL IN BOTH INSTITUTIONAL AND NON-INSTITUTIONAL SETTINGS.
Abstract
THE SUBJECT MATTER IS DISCUSSED WITH REGARD TO TWO GROUPS OF PERSONNEL, THOSE WORKING IN INSTITUTIONS AND THOSE CONCERNED PRIMARILY WITH AFTER-CARE OF OFFENDERS. THE FIRST GROUP IS FURTHER BROKEN DOWN INTO THE FOLLOWING GROUPS--WARDENS, ADMINISTRATIVE AND TECHNICAL STAFF, DIRECTORIAL OR EXECUTIVE STAFF, AND STAFF FOR SPECIAL DUTIES. A SHORT LOOK AT THE DIFFICULTIES INVOLVED IN THE SELECTION AND TRAINING OF PERSONNEL ALONG WITH SOME POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS CONCLUDES THE ARTICLE.
