SURVEY TO ESTIMATE THE NUMBER OF OFFENDERS WHO, DURING A GIVEN PERIOD OF TIME, WILL BE SCREENED AND THEN INTENSIVELY ASSESSED WITHIN A SPECIALIZED SETTING.
Abstract
THE STUDY WAS CONDUCTED IN ONTARIO, CANADA AND INVOLVED THOSE MALE OFFENDERS WHO WERE JUDGED TO BE DEVIANT IN THEIR SEXUAL PREFERENCES AND IN NEED OF SPECIAL HELP. THE RESULTS OF THE SURVEY CONFIRM THAT THE NUMBER OF SEXUAL OFFENDERS WHO AT FIRST ROUGH SCREENING APPEAR TO BE TRULY DEVIANT AS TO THEIR SEXUAL PREFERENCE IS SO SMALL THAT THE PRESENT CENTRALIZED FACILITY CAN CARRY OUT INTENSIVE ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT FOR ALL SUCH CANDIDATES.
