Abstract
This survey presents the following information on shock incarceration in 50 States, the District of Columbia, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons: (1) Existence of shock or boot camp program(s); (2) Current budget; (3) Change in budget; (4) Per diem cost of shock/boot camp, prison; (5) Length of program; (6) Is program for males, females, or coed; (7) Maximum capacity of program; (8) Number of current participants; (9) Number who started program; (10) Number who completed program; (11) Success rate; (12) Number of employees; (13) Participation voluntary? (14) Participation assigned by courts, department, other; (15) Requirements for participation; and (16) Program considered successful in what areas? Canadian systems queried either did not respond or had no systems.
