Abstract
The following items were highlighted at the 2003 SHOT Show. The Small Arms Cleaning System uses a CO2 cartridge to propel a cleaning wad down a gun barrel, removing debris and fouling from the barrel. A second lubricating wad is fired, applying lubricant to its surface. TigerSharp Technologies (Texas) produces several lines of knives that use exoskeleton to hold an insert blade. Sharp, clear blades can be available at any time during an investigation. Pinnacle Product Group (California) has released LiteTool LED2001, which is a headband lamp that aids investigation in poorly or unlit locations. The LensPen from Parkside Optical (Canada) wipes camera, video, night vision, and microscope lenses in a circular manner, removing fingerprints, smudges, and similar deposits. Snail Systems (Massachusetts) produces bullet traps designed for safe cleaning and loading of firearms. For desktop use, the Forensic Buddy Bullet Trap is designed to safely capture bullets from handguns or other firearms at velocities below 1,300 feet. The Multi-Plier line of pocket tools from Gerber Legendary Blades (Oregon) is known for strength and easy handling. Mapcard from AOHunt LLC (Minnesota) provides a Web-based source to quickly produce maps -- highway, topological, or aerial -- allowing the user to include notations, highlighted borders, and measurements. MDS (Florida) has various lines of bore scopes and fiber optics available to address the needs of crime investigators to search out hidden evidence with minimal damage. The Scope Clamp from Trophy Tools (Texas) provides a steady mount for equipment during investigation. Kestrel Pocket Weather Meters from Nielsen-Kellerman (Pennsylvania) provide portable capture of weather conditions. Mark A Shot (California) allows investigators to mark all bullet holes by providing a bright color contrast. Tool Logic (California) has produced a SL Series of credit card shaped knives that also contain a white LED flashlight and a loud emergency whistle.
