Abstract

THE MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON IS EXAMINED FROM A SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE AS AN OPERATIVE SOCIAL SYSTEM WITH THE INTENT OF CLARIFYING IDEAS ABOUT MAN AND HIS BEHAVIOR IN SUCH SETTINGS. AMONG TOPICS DISCUSSED ARE CUSTODIAL REGIME, DEFECTS OF TOTAL POWER, PAINS OF IMPRISONMENT AND ARGOT ROLES, CRISIS, AND EQUILIBRIUM, AND NOTES TO REFORMERS AND CHANGE AGENTS.
