Annotation
The development of a rapid and sensitive ELISA test to determine, from a urine sample, whether a race horse has been given the drug cromolyn sodium, which is used to treat respiratory allergic diseases such as asthma.
Abstract
The detection limit of the assays was less than 1 ng/ML. Enzyme conjugate binding to immobilized sheep antibody was inhibited 50 percent by less than 10 ng/mL. Variabilities within and between assays were less than 9 and 15 percent respectively. The test was capable of reliably detecting cromoglycate for 6 hours after the administration of an 80 mg nebulized dose or for 17 hours following the administration of an 80 mg intratracheal dose. The background and matrix effects were found to be minimal. In addition, the text was very specific; no compound has yet been found to cross-react significantly. Figures, tables, and 16 references
