Police and crime statistics and the activities and accomplishments of the Springfield Police Division (Ohio) are summarized in this annual report for 1980.
Abstract
Index crimes decreased 8 percent in 1980 from 1979, for a total of 4,347 Index crimes. Total Part 1 offenses cleared during 1980 was 2,170, or 43.8 percent, as compared to 2,459 cleared in 1979 (45.3 percent). Juvenile arrests for Part 1 Index crimes decreased from 337 in 1979 to 333 in 1980, while adult arrests for Part 1 Index crimes increased for 506 in 1979 to 649 in 1980. There were 2,429 motor vehicle accidents recorded in 1980 as compared to 2,909 the previous year. The report lists annual expenditures and presents an organization chart, departmental roster, years-of-service chart, and descriptions of departmental activities. Data are given for demographic characteristics of juveniles and adults arrested, disposition of cases, crime Index offenses, value of property stolen, summary of all property stolen and recovered, cost of maintaining prisoners at the county jail, and departmental motor vehicle costs. Tables, pie charts, and photographs are provided.
