STUDY OF PRISON POPULATION, ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE AND PERSONNEL TURNOVER DATA INDICATES NO DIRECT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN STAFF MOBILITY AND SUCCESSFUL INMATE TREATMENT.
Abstract
SWEDISH PRISON STAFF MOBILITY IS ASSESSED ACCORDING TO THREE TYPES OF MOVEMENT - TRANSFERS BETWEEN INSTITUTIONS, SHORT-TIME EMPLOYMENT, AND TENURE APPOINTMENT. VARIOUS SETS OF STATISTICS ARE PROVIDED DESCRIBING SWEDEN'S CORRECTIONAL PERSONNEL DURING THE YEARS 1961 TO 1966. THE STUDY WAS INITIATED TO EXPLORE POSSIBLE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS TO SWEDEN'S REPUTATION FOR HUMANE INMATE TREATMENT.
