A QUESTIONNAIRE DESIGNED FOR USE IN A SURVEY OF THE STATUS OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE STANDARDS AND GOALS DEVELOPMENT IN THE STATES AND TERRITORIES IS PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE PURPOSE OF THE SURVEY, IN ADDITION TO STATUS ASSESSMENT, WAS TO DETERMINE THE PROBABILITY THAT EACH STATE WOULD BE ABLE TO INCLUDE STANDARDS AND GOALS IN ITS 1976 COMPREHENSIVE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLAN, TO IDENTIFY THE STANDARDS AND GOALS DEVELOPMENT METHODS AND APPROACHES USED IN EACH STATE, AND TO EVALUATE THE NEED FOR LEAA ASSISTANCE. THE FINAL PRODUCT OF THE SURVEY WAS TO BE A REPORT SUMMARIZING THE FINDINGS, WHICH WOULD BE DISTRIBUTED TO STATE PLANNING AGENCIES. THE QUESTIONNAIRE IS IN FIVE PARTS AS FOLLOWS: ORGANIZING FOR STANDARDS AND GOALS, DEVELOPING STANDARDS AND GOALS, ESTABLISHING PRIORITIES, ADOPTING STANDARDS AND GOALS, AND ASSISTANCE NEEDS. EACH PART INCLUDES QUESTIONS ABOUT THE STATUS OF STANDARDS AND GOALS DEVELOPMENT AND ABOUT DEVELOPMENT METHODS AND APPROACHES. IN ADDITION, RESPONDENTS ARE ASKED TO NOTE THEIR PROGRESS WITH RESPECT TO SEVERAL STATUS INDICATORS LISTED FOR EACH STAGE OF THE STANDARDS AND GOALS PROCESS. (LKM)
