NCJ Number
174352
Date Published
1995
Length
198 pages
Annotation
These standards represent the official position of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care with respect to minimum requirements for health services in juvenile detention and confinement facilities.
Abstract
They are intended for use as guidelines for both short-term and long-term facilities. Larger group homes, halfway houses, and facilities or governments that contract with community or private agencies for health services may also find the standards useful. The 66 standards are grouped under 6 general areas: administration, the management of a safe and healthy environment, personnel, care and treatment, health records, and medical/legal issues. A discussion section that accompanies each standard explains the standard's intent, provides alternative approaches for achieving compliance, or defines crucial terms included in the standard. Appended guidelines and sample forms, policies, and procedures
