This text reproduces model codes, standards, and statutes setting forth guidelines for the professional conduct of lawyers and judges.
Abstract
The first section, for lawyers, contains the American Bar Association (ABA) model code for professional responsibility, ABA model rules for professional conduct, and ABA standards for criminal justice as they relate to prosecutorial and defense functions. Sample questions and answers for the National Conference of Bar Examiners Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination also are presented, as are the California Rules for Professional Conduct. The second section, for judges, contains the ABA code of judicial conduct and ABA standards for criminal justice dealing with the special functions of the trial judge. Also included are statutory provisions regarding retirement for disability, procedures for discipline of Federal judges, and bias and disqualification of Federal judges. The California Code of Judicial Conduct also is reproduced.
