Abstract
Hawaii's court system includes the Supreme Court and appellate courts, as well as circuit, family, and district courts. Legislative priorities during the report period focused on a judicial salary increase, the hiring of additional judges, technology upgrades, court security, capital improvement projects, and alternative dispute resolution. Significant program activities during the report period included a court improvement process initiative, jury innovations, a project to streamline the family court process, the use of videos by parties and defendants in small claims and traffic courts, a toll-free information line, an appellate conference program, and Judiciary website expansion. Brief descriptions of appellate, trial, and circuit courts are provided, and data on caseload activity in appellate and circuit courts are tabulated. 10 figures and 8 photographs
