This report summarizes activities of the Hawaii Office of the Ombudsman for fiscal year 1997-1998.
Abstract
The Office of the Ombudsman’s year in brief presents the office workload (including a 2-year caseload comparison), staff turnover, case management, prison complaints, United States Ombudsman Association, model ombudsman act for state government and legislative action of note. Statistical tables provide miscellaneous data, including numbers and types of inquiries, means by which inquiries are received, distribution of population and inquirers by residence, complaint disposition, information inquiries and inquiries carried over to Fiscal Year 1998-99. The report also includes summaries of selected cases investigated by the office, cases brought by the Departments of Accounting and General Services, Agriculture, the Attorney General, Budget and Finance, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Education, Health, Human Resources Development, Human Services, Public Safety, and Transportation, as well as by the University of Hawaii, City and County of Honolulu and County of Maui.
