POLICE WORKSHOP HELD FOR THE PURPOSE OF ALLOWING VARIOUS CALIFORNIA METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENTS TO EXCHANGE INFORMATION ABOUT THE METHODS OF INVESTIGATION USED TO UNCOVER THE MOVEMENT AND FENCING OF STOLEN PROPERTY.
Abstract
A REVIEW OF CALIFORNIA CASE LAW REGARDING THE RECEIVING OF STOLEN GOODS IS PRESENTED. THE MAJORITY OF THIS REPORT IS DEDICATED TO CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS' REPORTS OF THE BURGLARY AND FENCING INVESTIGATION METHODS USED BY THEIR INDIVIDUAL POLICE DEPARTMENTS. REPORTS ARE PRESENTED BY REPRESENTATIVES OF THE FOLLOWING POLICE AGENCIES: THE CALIFORNIA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE, THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, THE HUNTINGTON BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE SAN JOSE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE LONG BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND THE SAN DIEGO POLICE DEPARTMENT. EXHIBITS APPENDED TO THIS REPORT ARE CONFIDENTIAL SUPPLEMENTARY POLICE REPORT INFORMATION FILED BY THE VARIOUS SPECIALIZED INVESTIGATIVE UNITS.
