This document contains six sets of recommendations to prevent violence in schools.
          Abstract
The recommendations cover strategies to prevent school violence by creating a safe school environment, teaching nonviolence and alternatives to violence, collaborating with other professionals, and involving parents and the community. Violence in schools can be reduced specifically by increasing surveillance and supervision around the school, keeping weapons out of school, and keeping unauthorized persons off campus. Other strategies involve increasing student participation in violence prevention efforts, implementing physical safety features at schools, mediating disputes and appointing peer helpers at schools, and conducting antiviolence and parenting seminars.
