Abstract
NUMEROUS CASE HISTORIES OF ORGANIZED CRIME ACTIVITIES AROUND THE UNITED STATES WITH DESCRIPTIONS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT EFFORTS TO BRING THE GUILTY TO TRIAL. THE AUTHOR DOCUMENTS THE MANNER IN WHICH LEGALIZED WIRETAPPING HAS CONTRIBUTED TOWARD EFFECTIVE PROSECUTION OF SOME OF THE LEADING MEMBERS OF THE UNDERWORLD AND POINTS OUT THE NECESSITY OF ITS CONTINUED USE. THE APPENDICES INCLUDE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURES OF VARIOUS CRIME FAMILIES THROUGHOUT THE NATION AND LISTS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL ENGAGED IN ORGANIZED CRIME INVESTIGATION.
