CLASSIFICATION AND ANALYSIS OF THE RECORDS OF 852 FRENCH ADOLESCENT DELINQUENTS AGED 16 AND 17 ACCORDING TO THE EXTENT OF THEIR DELINQUENT BEHAVIOR, JUVENILE JUSTICE PROCESSING, TREATMENT, AND SANCTIONS.
Abstract
THE STUDY INDICATES THAT THERE ARE CLOSE LINKS BETWEEN THE DELINQUENT BEHAVIOR OF THE SUBJECTS, THEIR SOCIAL HANDICAPS, AND SOCIETY'S REACTION TO THEIR DELINQUENCY. IT SUGGESTS THAT DELINQUENT BEHAVIOR MAY BE INCREASED BY REACTIONS SUCH AS INCARCERATION WHICH ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE INDIVIDUAL WITHOUT CHANGING HIS SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT. STATISTICS ARE INCLUDED. --IN FRENCH, SUMMARY IN ENGLISH
